Apologies if this has already been covered in another post before. I'm looking to place 1, a pair, or 2 different docile algae eaters in my 20 gallon high tank, but I'd like them to be 4 inches or less max and capable of living with a betta. Can anyone suggest some winners for me?

Hey Edgar.

I just posted a question too about algae eaters. I believe Ottos (Otocinclus affinis) are one of the best. They are small (max length around 2") and peaceful - can live with basically any kind of fish. Good thing is they actually eat algae, not like some of their more aggressive kin. I've found that they are harder to find though, at least in my part of the woods. Good luck!

Hi and welcome edgar

You could try some bristlenoses, they don't get too big

Or much smaller are the ottos, (as shmoe says), - you can gat a few of these as they stay very small, lovely little fish. There are a few different varieties - depends what your lfs can get in. but all much the same :)

heres a piccie of mine (got 8 of them in here somewhere? -_- )

ottos B)

btw - what size tank you got?

:)

:huh:Can you get the Ottos in different colours and such? Cuz mine don't look like that! Well, same body and everything, but they're not shiny! I'm worried!

Everybody, thanks for all the good information. I'll check out my lfs (I think I figured out that that is short for local fish store?) for some Ottos or bristlenoses.

Wet, my tank is a 20 gallon high. So far, I've only got Green, my Betta in it. :)
