Predator Tank

Well I am going to do acrocrete or whatever its called so I will make some sort of network of tunnels and caves

I have never liked fish that were easy. I have read about feeding problems but I will be giving mine live marine fish. Are there any other issues I should look out for?

youll need to watch out for the lionfish stinging the eel. this happened with my snowflake and volitan, a lot, and i only had the eel 2 weeks before it escaped the tank :(
Lionfish tend to "sit" a lot, so if they happen to sit where the eel wants to go, the eel will just swim past it without any concern for being stung until it happens lol

i used some reef base rock which is very porous and has tunnels and openings all over and right through :)
if you want to just use LR then i suggest you build a structure up out of tank, then copy it in the tank and glue it together! thats a definate! you can get special stuff to do this, i use AquaScape putty, its also available in coraline algae purple :) looks natural in the tank once its been in a few weeks.

Eels are so much fun to watch, but can be difficult to feed. mine was already taking frozen foods before i got it, but some dont and stress can stop them eating altogether.
youll also have the problem ive recently come up against, its difficult to feed an eel when you have a lionfish in the same tank. the lionfish will always go for the food, even if it cant physically fit anymore inside its tummy!
i have 2 volitans in the same tank, one is much much larger than the other and when i feed them the little one always ends up eating the bigger bits of fish that were meant for the larger lion.
when i had the eel and lion together i had to use tongs to feed the eel as any food that was put in the tank from the surface was devoured by the lionfish
even using tongs it was hard to get teh eel to accept it before the lion started sniffing about.

dont get me wrong, im not by any means trying to put you off. Lionfish are my all time fave fish, and the eel was amazing! i will get another once ive made sure the lid is 100% tight lol

keep us informed because im very interested in this setup :)
of course, pics are mandatory! :D

As I said previously I have heard they have problems with food and adapting but I will be providing live food 90% of the time so they shouldn't have to adapt but just follow natural behaviours.

ok, wewll feeding live food also has its problems, but should be easier overall.
as long as the eel isnt stressed when moved about you should be ok :)

that and the fact that live foods from the sea can carry all sorts of illneses etc, i know its as if they were in the sea but the sea is a lot bigger and better equipped to deal with changes and illness etc

This is true but my fish will be locally sourced as well as my water but I will keep an eye out for clear features of unhealthy fish.

Thanks for the heads up
