Hey its me again with yet another question for all you nice guy/gal pros out there.

Here goes.......36 gal tank with one powerhead that came with filter system(if you would call that one a powerhead). Is this enough or should i invest in another and if so how should i place it/them?(i.e.) hi/low, opposites etc. :dunno:

adding on to previous question......

my flowrate with my filter is 260 g/h does this count towards total flow rate recommended for tanks?

I have also read that 10x amount of tank is min. recommended flow rate for tanks...any other suggestions or is this good?

one more powerhead wouldnt hurt. I would look into something say about 295 gph per hour. this should give you enough water flow in the tank. right now if i am correct you just have live rock and sand. creating more water flow even for live rock will help it adjust, and become more alive as time goes on. as you get into soft corals and such you may have to get more water flow but for now.. one more should work for you. maxi jet 1200 is i believe about 300 gph.

It will also depend on what you entend to keep in the tank. I dont think I have seen you mention what type of lighting you have, this will also be very important as far as what you put in the tank. What exactally are you planning on doing with this tank? If you are planning on keeping seahorses or pipes, you wont want to add any more powerheads, however if you are not more is better. Some corals such as pulsing xiena like less current, wile waving xiena and zoo prefer to have more direct current. I use 3 minni jets on a wave timer along with one constant in my 15 gallon nano. You will really have to decide on what it is you want to keep in the tank, then go from there.

Mordrath-

Where are you located in Ohio? I travel from Columbus to Cleveland quite often. I know a lot of good stores that would be willing to help you out hands on. Let me know where you are and I'll try and help you out.

Planning on doing a reef with fish tank and my lighting is 65 w of 10000 pc and 65 blue actnic. hopefully that should be enough for my 36 gal. tank
