Hi,

Could any cube owners suggest a good (quiet) powerhead for a 1ft cube (25 litres)

From reading around forums this is a viable option instead of drilling tank and fitting all sorts of extra bits correct?

Planning on just having LR a few corals and perhaps shrimps

Powerheads provide circulation to the live rock to assist in maintaining the biological filter and also mimics the ocean current for corals to obtain food and expel waste. The amount of flow you need varies depending on what you are going to keep in the tank. In general, the minimum is 10X flow or 10 times the volume of the tank per hour. Flows over 20X are not uncommon depending on what you keep. Because of the small size of nano tanks, it is often preferable for aesthetics and volume limitations to keep PH's out of view or plumbed into the system. Maxijets are a good brand. Some people like Seios but I hear mixed reviews about them. SH

I agree with the Maxjet recommendation, does everything I need it to do without any noise and at a decent price.

Well, I have been using the Aquatic Gardens 600 Powerheads and haven't had any problems.

I would also say MaxiJet as well I have one in my cube and it's almost silent, I used Seios in the past and after a couple of days I riped it out and throw it away because of the noise :) they vibrate the glass so much .
