Right now we still have power but anticipate up to an inch of ice tonight. Chances are, we will lose power. We have a gas fireplace in the living room where the tank is but if memory serves me right, it will only keep the temp around 60. Last time this happened it was for several days. Is there anything we can do??? How long will they survive at that temp?

We have 6 platies (2 are PG and about to drop), 4 glo-fish danios, 3 tetras, a cory cat and a couple of snails.

All you can do is wrap the tank up in a blanket.
You will need some aeration though.
You can buy battery operated air pumps.
You will have to do a water change and then put the blanket on.
If temp dosn't drop fast they might be ok.

is there anything I can do for aeration without the battery operated pump? The roads are coated and a trip to the store isn't happening....
