Lister, one of my male fighters is off his food, and sittig on the bottom of the tank. He's been like this now for 24 hours.

There is no obvious sign sof anything wrong to look at. No discolouration, no swelling, no heavy breathing, he's just listless.

He is in a tank by himself, and the tank was cleaned on Saturday. No filtration in the tnak at the moment, only an airstone. Oh, its a 3 Gallon tank, which he has access to half of. The other half is empty at the moment as I lost a female betta on Monday. She had not been in this tank though, and it was prepared for her once she had recovered in the hosipital tank. Unfortunately, she didn't make it (war wounds from our other female that became inflamed and brought on a secondary infection).

Any ideas on what I could do for Lister? or is it just his time to go? :/

He has perked up a bit today. He seemed completely normal. I fed him some bloodworms yesterday, he waited until they sank and then ate them off the bottom of the tank. he is swimming up for air, when he needs to.

Have not seen any pooping, but I am at work all day, so not sure what he's up to then.

I put a filter in the tank yesterday (air powered corner filter) with some activaed carbon in it to make sure there wasn't something in the water he didn't like. It shuold remove some of the impurities.

I suspect it may have been a slight overdose of melafix (also a reason why i put the filter in - to remove the meds). I put some in because his tank mate (different section in a divided tank) came down with some wounds that started to get infected. She was removed to a hospital tank, but I added the meds to try andprevent any of my bettas from catching anything.

hi Moeldner, sorry i can't help with your problem as i am pretty new to this but could you tell me what your catfish is in your sig coz it looks like mine and i don't know what he is? Thanks :)

edit* ignore that, i just read your tank details

I have fantastic news about Lister - he's back with a vengeance. Gobbling up his food as soon as it hits the water, and coming up to the surface to say hi when I'm in the room.

I'm pretty sure that this was something in the water, either an overdaose of melafix (my bad), or something leached outof the substrate.

The substrate was supposed to be a washed gravel that I washed for about 15 minutees before putting in the tank, but it still went very cloudy. Listers tank is my latest, and his tank mate, Holly, for th eother half sadly passed away from an infection before she could get to see it.

I'll be getting lister some comapny this weekend.

That Bobette (or ugly bobette as she is affectionately known). She's about 4" long in that pic.
