Just wondering what would be the best way to package java moss for posting, was gonna have a trim soon and was thinking of flogging some.

Thanks in advance.

I would just throw it into an airtight bag and send it first class. It would probably be fine to send second class but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

I have bought some off ebay in the past, and its common to wrap the moss in water soaked cardboard, sellotaped around and a small amount of extra water in a sealed bag.

Ive bought a few different plants recently (including floaty stuff from Cezza!) that have been posted.
A zip lock type sandwich bag then into a bubble wrap bag seems to have been fine for all - even some in little pots. I also got moss balls - they were flattened and shrunk into a vacuumed packed bag but they pinged up to full size, perfectly healthy once released!

Hmmm....as moss balls contain Infusoria I would have thought that vacuume packing them would kill it all off??

I don't know enough about that, but I was surprised to find such a small package for them and was then outraged when 1st I saw them as little more than 1.5" flattened blobs!
But as soon as I released the vacuum, they bounced out and were 3"+ diameter! (Which is what I thought Id ordered!) I'm fairly sure they were only in the post for 24 hours as they were a 1st class postage within the UK . I've had them about 3 weeks now and they're still green and healthy.

Im sure the moss balls are fine, but a lot of people buy them because they contain the Infusoria which are microscopic live creatures and  food for fry, and the fact that they are vacuume packed would starve them of oxygen for 24 hours and probably kill them all off.

whe ive bought it from my LFS they have it bagged up in small coin size bags with air tight clipper seal at the top. Also its got a bit of water inside too.

Thanks

I'd put them in a seal-able bag making sure there is some air in there. This should create an air pocket that will help prevent them being squashed. If you're really worried you could get a box to put them in. Someone sent me some moss once and it arrived virtually flat! It soon expanded though and was none the worse for wear.

All good ideas, next question would be how much $$$ for how much moss?
