hi all, i have a pair of tiger oscars and i am putting them into a bigger tank, just wondering what tankmates i could put them in with, i was thinking about possably a pair of blue acaras, or a pair of choclate cichlids. What are your thoughts or other suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

its 4 foot, don't know exactly id say about 200-250 litres. a local shop has wild blue acaras for sale, would they be more visious and not very good to mix being that they are wild?

they are about 15 cm long atm a true pair.

Regards

Tom

no more tankmates in tank that size its barelty big enough for a single oscar when fully grown, maybe now if your going to upgrade to a tank of about 125gal then things like convicts and firemouths

I'd be inclined to return the oscar and go for the wild blue acara pair.

you could try a large pleco, ther fun to look at and peaceful fish

A plec will just add to the bioload and thats not going to end well in this tank. The most likely plec you will encounter (common or sailfin) can grow bigger than the oscar.

I've got a shoal of silver dollars with my oscars and they seem to go really well at the moment. The oscars are about 8 inches and the silver dollars a big 6 inches. All the oscars are interested in is whats going on outside tank and food!!

great fish

If its only 250 Litres or under then your stocking in six months time will simply be 1 Oscar, the tank isn't big enough for anything else
