I just got another betta a few weeks ago and noticed a white substance right in front of her lower fin, on her belly, when I got her. It’s there while she poops, her poop appears segmented but brown. She’s from PetSmart in a split 20 gallon with another female I got at the same time. they had a week of Bettafix just incase. She swims normally, has a great appetite and comes to the front of the tank when we go in front of it. Does anyone know what this could be?

Cycled tank
78 degrees
Nitrate about 20-25
Nitrite 0

The fish is a female. Female Betta splendens have a white ovipositor (egg laying tube). Males have a dark one. Your fish is simply a happy, well fed female that wants to breed. Nothing wrong with her besides she wants a boyfriend.

That’s great news, thank you! They’re my first females so this is new to me.
