I have a 10 gallon tank that has wood, rocks, sand substrate, and will be getting plants soon. It is stocked with 3-4 female guppies and many MTS.
I would like to have a shoal of loaches of some sort. I figured kuhlis would be too long (correct me if I wrong), and besides them there aren't any others sold in stores near me so I would need to order them. They don't have to have certain colors or patterns or be very active. I already have plecs and corys in my 29 gallon so as much as I love them, I would like to switch things up in this 10 gallon.

If they're available where you're at, why not get a:

- cinnamon loach
- jonklaas loach

They both do well in a group of 3 and they both grow less than 3 inches, plus they're cheap where i'm at lol

What are the dimensions of this 10US gallon, 38l tank?

Relatively few fish are suitable for such tiny tanks, before you start specifying fish types like loaches. Tank requirements are a combination of things including adult size; activity levels; minimum number levels; territorial aggression etc.

Loaches are social fish that form a hierachy so they should not be bought in numbers less than six, ideally 10+, in low numbers they tend to get fiesty with each other and may nip at other fish in the tank.

No loach species immediately springs to my mind that should be kept in a tank less than 60x30cm footprint for life.

There will always be exceptions. I had a pair of 2-inch cinnamon loaches before that have never fought with each other or even with other tankmates. They were in good terms with my bronze and albino corys. May they rest in peace..

Well, yeah, but you can't suggest a species that is basically unsuitable for the tank in question, in the hope that they turn out to be an exception.

Too active, I have 6 in my large volume 4-footer and I'm picking up another 6 this weekend.

With very little if any other midwater or bottom dwellers, you could do a small group of ~6 in a 75x30x30cm, with a carefully chosen upper water singleton or small group that like a moderate-strong current (Pearl/Zebra Danios would not be suitable).

22.8x12.7x13.9 to be exact. That's directly from their website.
