I cant get a decent picture for the life of me, I tried for hours. The fish is shy, the tank glass is dirty, there is a glare. The fish eats and behaves ok, but I am unsure if there is a gill issue.
Dario hysginon, might even be a female, though I am unsure as always with these fish

Gills are pretty red...

have you had the fish for a while, or is it new...
gills look a little red on your other fish as well... water parameters???
used the correct chlorine remover at last water change???

I remade this tank in June and added this fish that i had since February. Had the luminatus in this tank since last year July.
I don't use dechlorinator in any of my tanks and none of them exhibit this, the last change was today and before like 10 days ago. I will keep an eye on this, theoretically other pictures of dario females also have a spot on the gills, but yes, concerning...

Just curious why you don’t use dechlorinator when doing your water changes.

Do you use a source of water that doesn’t have chlorine or chloramines?

What are your water parameters?

It could be gill flukes that explain the inflamed red gills. I don't know what medicines you can get in your country. But any medicine containing metronidazole and praziquantel, like Fritz ParaCleanse, is followed by antibiotics to prevent secondary infection. The flukes attach to the gills and, after removal through medications, may cause wounds.

The fishkeeping business have been super active here for like 35 years and noone has ever used any form of dechlorinator ever. All our water is drinkable, tbh I dont even know if any form of dechlorinator is sold. I have been doing direct water changes from the faucet for 12 years and not even sensitive tanganyikan fish had any issues imo
it says free chlorine is less than 0,05 mg/l and chloride is 22,4 mg/l with ph 7,5 and super super soft water, 1,06 mmol/l and 32, mS/m conductivity.
Most of my fish live 3-5 years or so, so I am guessing it is not that poisonous. I havent died from my 2liters a day either :) If I do my smaller tanks, I let the bucket sit for a while and I do a slow water change on my bg tanks where filling up takes me 2 hours.

Is it not just a translucent gill cover, and you're seeing the redness of the gills underneath? Looking at pictures online, most of them seem to have it.

When i managed to find pictures of females online of other dario they looked similar with a sort of spot around the gill so hopefully it is just a sign of a female
I will be moving her and a male to a different tank, given it may be a female and i want to try to breed them
