Here is a pic of the filtration

You can see I have dark blue lines under the trays that hold the filter media. This is so I can remove the trays to access media under it.

I would do away with the foam and just have a load of filter floss. It will clog up quicker, but you will only have one thing to rinse (I rinse mine at least once, often twice per week, but it really pulls stuff out of the water) and will have more room for bioballs.

I wouldn't use the overflow, so long as you maintain the thing once a week and the chamber for the filter floss is at least 1.5-2" deep you will never have it overflow. The aim of the filter floss is to ensure that as little mechanical waste as possible hits the bio-balls.

I have changed the drawing big time since I posted, im going to create a overflow box for the tank to go with the wet/dry filter and I will use the pump to start the cyphon with a valve on the front of the wet/dry filter.

Thanks for the input. reason I thought about foam or some pre-filter was so the filter fiber didn't clog up as easy. Dimentions are not yet concret. I don't want it more then 18" wide or deep. I think about 20" max for tall
