Hi, just after a few opinions. I am trying to get a pair of bristlenoses to breed in my 62gal tank. I have 6 in there currently an noticed this before. Do you think this is a male making room for eggs?

The right hand side of this pebble is usually the tunnel he uses, but if you look he has dug out all the gravel from the left hand side, an now made that into a tunnel too

Thanks for any thoughts, Vinny

If only, I could get breeding stock.... These will be my next project.... Looks very much like you're onto something here, Good luck.

Hey kneish, just a thought, be careful if this is the gachua tank? as the bristlenose fry may well get munched and could cause problem's getting stuck in the gaucha's mouth....
Its very possible mate, i had my bristlenose's laying egg's in a small flowerpot hidden under slate and bogwood

Gachuas in the 180gal m8, this is the 62gal upstairs. Occupants are a group of Blue Rams (5), group of smallish Angels (5), and a group of Bristlenoses (6), oh and some cories that have laid eggs a few times. hoping to get a pair of Bn's, pair of Angels, and Pair of Blue rams althought seems i have tweo pairs of these already.

All ready for my breeding programme I'm hoping to start. If i get two pairs of any I can use it as an excuse for more tanks.

I don't think they will breed there. They need a cave. My male bred in this cave:

You can see him sitting there with his head out of the hole, so no one can get in to his eggs. The fry are dinky, about this big:

Sorry about the crappy close up qaulity! Those fry are about 2 and a half weeks old.

You are guilty of what I've been doing.... Do not delete your photos on Photobucket after you've posted them.... it ultimately deletes all your posted photos......

Your male bred in this cave?????.....Must've had some support from the Fe????

Thanks Krib, I did think that, but on closer inspection he has effectively turned it into a cave. on the left hand side of the pebble is the glass of the tank which he has cleared completely, but, on the outside of the tank at that spot is the light adapter thing, so it is still dark in there and you cant see in from any angle other than the front really. its difficult to pick up from my crappy pics but it is all enclosed but for the front bit. an a gap comin in from over the pebble

mine used to manage without hiding them to well :good:

Wow!! Nelly... this is an eye opener for me.... Thought they had to be a lot bigger than a guppy before they're breeding size.... (Like a Pleco)... this is encouraging.

haha, seems nelly could breed a bristlenose with an elephant though, everything he touches.
