Porite rock (aka, plume & xmas tree rock)

I did the rounds of a couple of LFS's before, see if they had any new stock, in one they had 2 porites rock. The bloke in the lfs, was with a right nerd for ages, so i got fed up of waiting. But, will the worms grow much bigger, and will they populate any more of the rock?, i know that the worms live off the mucus the porite coral gives off, so will the coral spread to other bits of L.R, and more worms produced to go with it, or its it just a self contained piece of rock that will stay as you/i buy it?
