I resently bought 2 ropefish from my lfs, one is doing great settled in straight away and eating v. well, however the second seems to have a few issues. for the past two weeks since they were purchased the second ropefish has had a lump in its body it hasn't eaten yet and it struggles to swim down so it just floats around at the top. So i was wondering whether anyone else has had this problem and new how to cure whatever is up with it.

I think its swim bladder and what are you feeding him on?

frozen bloodworm, which ive placed in a seperate container with the ropefish in it and it wasnt bothered, also tried with live blackworms that im breeding and still not bothered. the only thing im worried about is the 9 neon tetra and 5 rummy nose tetra thats gone missing in the past month

That could be your ropefish lump.....

If he's not eaten for a while, that tells me he could be full already. He's helped himself to a few tasty snacks from your stocklist.

General rule of thumb for fish - If it fits in the mouth.......
