Ok, so one of my little pals isnt doing so well...

Had him/her for about 2 months, and for the last couple of weeks or so, he has been acting strange.

He has isolated himself from the group, (I have a group of 6) he has been eating, but not looking like he enjoys it like the others do. He lets other fish just bump into him, whereas others obviously skitter away.

Very lethargic, and seems to be noticably darker in pigmentation that the other ones now. Barbels are not looking so hot either...

My tank has been set up for nearly 7 months, fully cycled, heavily planted, 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites, 50 Nitrates...did a major waterchange about 5 days ago, that didnt help.

I did have the temperature set at 26, but as this is the top end of their range, I lowered it to 22 over the last week, as that might make him more comfortable, but it hasnt made a difference.

He just seems like he cant be bothered with life anymore!! :(

All other residents are all fine and dandy...

Poor little guy...

Any ideas?

he looks a little red, might be suffering from something, could treat with some basic meds in another tank, but dont add salt. not sure what meds either. combination of mela and pima fix might help.

His gills are awfully red. I think it wouldn't hurt to dose some Melafix. Sometimes these little guys just don't do well for some reason that we can't determine. I have an albino cory that looks like death warmed over. But he's looked like this for months and yet he still eats and roots around like the rest, just at about half speed. He's almost blue he's so white, and I think he's blind. But since he doesn't seem stressed I just let him be. Hope yours will be all right.

Yeah, his gills do look off, as you can see in the guy behind him in the second pic, none of the others are showing this reddening.

I will seperate him off tomorrow and give him a dose of melafix, and see how he does. He just doesnt seen happy at all :(

Looks like maybe a bacterial infection, especially with the redness around the gills.

Good luck with him/her
