I adore my corys, so it's breaking my heart that one of them has something wrong with them. One cory looks like it's bloated. It has a rounded belly (bigger than the other two). It's acting normal, and eats like normal. Anyone have an idea what is causing this, or how to fix it? Thanks...

Just to let you know female corys are broader and fatter than males. ;)

Well, I've had this cory for almost a year and she's never had a belly like this before. I just noticed that she was getting a "tummy" this past week.

Is it possible that she's matured to the point of laying eggs?

My albino cory will get a bit fatter and I know it's time for some egg layin'! I've seen her do almost daily egg laying for two weeks straight once. It's possible yours is getting ready to burst?

Don't discount the idea that she's sick though. Just check the water quality and then monitor for any weird behavior/signs of disease.

She's acting fine...she eats normal and swims with the other two corys. If she is ready to lay eggs, is there anything special I need to do for her? I'm not sure if any of the other corys are male though.

males are generally smaller...corys will only breed in the winter months therefore in a tropical tank to breed them you may need to do a 1/3 water change and add cold water (Don't warm it up), you may want to sprinkle it on to give it a rainy effect. ;)

Be sure to have some nice music playing and set the lights a bit low.... nothing like setting a mood for egg laying!
