Hey guys, long story put short, i had 5 mollies, two have died to a suspected ammonia spike - water 90% changed.

Now then, things appear to have calmed down since the above, however the rest of my mollies are pooping... but its not coming off or breaking away from them. They have been swimming around the tank with poop attatched for hours now. Dont know if this means anything, but they have now and again pooping white stringy stuff out along with normal poop.

Any ideas?

The poop has been attatched for so long that is has went solid, when they swim it stays in a fixed shape. It has went white and crispy hard and wont come off them...

Yeah i could, but im just wondering why its happening and what is wrong with them. All three of them have it

Wow, having a hard time imagining what this looks like. White stringy poop is often an indication of internal parasites but if it is rigid and "crispy". I wonder if it would be work doing some blanched shelled peas to see if it is related to constipation. Then I would feed bloodworms to see if that changed the poop and then if nothing worked I would do something like API General Cure dosing the whole tank. This treats mostly internal parasites. You do have a mystery going though. Good luck.

stringy mucousy poo is also caused by constipation. feed some peas and fast for a day or two as mentioned above. Then cut back on future feedings. See if it helps. Any of them have sunken bellies regardless of eating? or any rubbing or flicking? both signs of internal parasite.
all the best
cheers
