Pond Questions

A waterfall is great for aerating the water but I don't know how effective that filter will be. An ultraviolet filter is a good idea on a decent size pond (due to the amount of sunlight on it). It'll help keep the algae in check.

So what i really need is all in the kit? but better

i just want to ask if this is all i need

-pond liner
-waterfall/filter
-pump

and wat else?

and i have an additional question. Whats a skimmer? do i need it?

You need .....water! LOL Just kidding. Get your self a fresh water master kit so you can keep track of water quality. I would set up the kit and place rocks where you want them. Leave it up and running for a week so you know there are no troubles with it then add fish. Iwould only start with a 6 commets for a month before adding any thing more. Whem it comes to algae I would only use barley balls to keep it under control. Good luck!
BTW I would also look some more for a pond only group you can talk to. Look into a club in your area.

get a UV light definitly.. Also when you dig out the pond you will want t ohave a holding area to use as a natural filter it can then dump into your main pond via waterfall or stream. The filter you get will probably not be good enough by itself unless you get one that is for a much larger pondthen the one you build.

Is this going to be a fish pond, koi ond, or water feature (more plants then fish)? How deep is it going to be?

The skimmer is also quite important although you can do without it...but I wouldn't if you can afford one. Just make sure you install it properly. It will skim off the surface of the pond just like one would in a pool. If you get lots of leaves and grass etc falling into your pond a skimmer a great way of capturing this stuff before it falls to the bottom of the pond.
