Well, that was the first and biggest concern I had.  I'm not a Florida native, but I know that gators can be terrors at times down there.

bird are more terrors for ponds then gators are for the most part lol, gators are stalking hunters so if you so much as look at them they just kinda turn and walk away, like "dang i got caught". Birds on the other hand don't care they will eat you fish with you running toward them to scare them off and the won't fly till the last second. mostly because people hand feed birds so much down here they have very very little fear of humans, some of big cranes will let you pet them.

IMO dont get a butterfly peacock bass. There are so many other super cool bass out there! By one of those kelberi from OSA! jk in all seriousness get a big, bahia kelberi. A shovelnose cat will do well IMO.

was considering a tiger shovel-nose, and i am going to get either a ocellaris or a  orinocensis, they both get around 27 inch. Not small enough to get bullied by the oscars, and other big cichlids (considering a red devil or something along those lines), but not to big that it will eat the oscar.

Kelberi couldnt swallow oscars, and oscars cant bully bass. My 4" bass are in with a 12" oscar.

I know kelberi can't swallow bass i was more worried about them getting bullied by the other fish.
