Was in my local garden centre today picking up a few new plants and having a general nose about.
Noticed the bottle of dechlor was £7.99, 250ml and was enough to treat 5000ltrs of water.
The stuff I buy it nowhere near as good a value. It is a tetra product but cannot remember the exact name.
One thing that did stand out was that it said it contained Formaldehyde. I don't know what that is and any google search said its dangerous and prolonged use is harmful (I'm presuming to humans) what is the deal with that stuff and could I buy the pond stuff rather than the more expensive stuff.

There was also an "aquatic compost" there too. 40ltr bag for under £5 I think. May get that, I'm not a real planty person but would like to get to be one some day.

Pond dechlorinator is fine to use, a lot of us use it.

Also, Formaldehyde kills bacteria and depletes oxygen, I'm not sure of the concentration, but I doubt they'd put it in if it wasn't safe, it probably prolongs the life of the solution.

Using pond dechlorinator is perfectly fine. I have been using it myself for around 3 years now in all my tropical aquariums.

Thanks SBS.
The girlfriend said I should buy it but I wasn't sure why they put "contains Formaldehyde" so I thought I'd ask here before I bought it.
I'd heard a lot of people using pond dechlor before but just forgot about it again

tetra pond aquasafe
is what i use as 10m does 200litres where as i was putting a bottle of the aquarium tap safe costing a hell of alot more then 7.99

Yeah, I find that "pond" chemicals are just a WHOLE LOT MORE for the same price or less...

Dechlor, ph adjusters, stress zine, gh/kh etc..

All a great value and typically the same product.

Not to sure about that formaldehyde though...

I'll look for one locally without the formaldehyde. Better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks everyone.
