This is aimed at the Bichir experts out there, just seen an ad for the above three fish for sale all about 10- 12 inches long. Would these fish remain compatible with each other or would there be problems in the future?

I;ve kept an Ornate before with success it was a beautiful fish that I only sold on due to a change in circumstances at the time but now I;m heading down the oddball route again and fancy getting these three

The ornate is the most bullish/predatory out of the three ime so could potentially be the most problematic.

I doubt you'd have any issues between the palmas and the delhezi, and in a big enough tank all three could cohabit ok imo

Hey mate.

Being that the Polli and Delhezi are both at 10"-12" it should be OK, but as you know Ornates can be nasty buggers!
Why not get yourself lower jaws?

These three are just available and at a good price. I don;t really want the Palmas but they come as a three. My old Ornate was a lovely fish and he was back at the top of my list when stocking this tank again. Hopefully the guy will kleep them till Friday and I can pick them up then.

Gasmask I dont know enough about them to know what the lower jaws are yet? I;ll have a good read up :good:

I'm getting these fridaya and I;ve swapped the Palmas for an Endilicheri. Cant wait

Endis are excellent mate, good swap that, I have both species and wouldn't consider giving any of my Endis away for a Palmas. In terms of them living together peacefully, I would just make sure they are well fed, I had my 12" Ornate in with 2 Senegals (5") and 2 Endis around 4" and had no problem at all. Might pay to test his temperament first though by just keeping a close eye on him from the beginning.

I picked them up yesterday they are ace. They have been all together for years anyhow. No signs of trouble so far, the Endi at about 14 inch and very fat is well impressive the other two a bit shy buut both about 12 inch and slimmer

My tanks looking well better now :)

Good job mate!
Wild or CB?
My WC big girl is at 64cm right now!

I couldnt tell you whether they were wild or not mate. I didnt ask :)

The ornate and delhezi been very shy at moment however the Endy is amazing as soon as food goes in hes over to hoover him up. I love him ha ha

Have got a 10-11" Ornate in with a pair of Delhezis at 7-8" and 9".

Depends on the size of the tank I suppose, my three are in a temporary 625L tank (5.5ft x 2ft x 2ft) and they will be moving into a 937L tank + 250L sump (5.5ft x 3ft x 2ft).

The two Delhezis do everything together but all three huddle up in a pile to sleep at night and even when feeding there is no agro with each other. Th two Delhezis had grown up together and were introduced into the tank that the Ornate had been in for a few weeks...
