Plecs Help

I cannot comment on how agressive they are, as like above, they aren't one I've kept before. I would watch it with the Bristle nose plec and make a judgment call based uppon behavior towards the bristly. Hyp. plecs are usualy fairly laid back, but with such a wide veriaty of them, there is bound to be exceptions to the rule, especially when they all have different personalities...

Most large and meaty frozen foods will sink without help one defrosted IME :good: Feed after lights out to make sure the other fish do not out-compete the plec for food. The Hypansistrus plecs will eat algea and other veg, but it is only 1/2 their diet. Then need meat in their diet for long-term health, so feeding the meat is not optional realy

Assumptions are a bad thing to make with any livestock. Research is your friend for the next purchase. I know many "fancy" plecs die prematurely, because the owners just assume they are all vegetarians

All the best

Thanks. He was a bit of an impulse buy because he'd just come in and was so beautiful, wish I hadn't relied on the LFS info, but it's not a problem now that I know. I presume I should feed the fish to him raw?

I don't do any form of prepairation, other than defrosting :good:
