Are there any plants that plecs don't like?, Plant in my small tank are fine but in my big tank where my plec is, they last 5 minutes !!

I know what you mean about plastic plants, they look crap and they're more expensive than real ones....

ive got a few plecs in my tank, amazon swords seemed to last, ive not really tried anything else. ive got a crypt, which hasnt been eaten but isnt doing well for some reason, and an anubis which did get eaten, but i dont think by plecs. that doesnt seem to be growing back either.

ive got a rusty plec, which when i brought it the guy said it would decimate plantlife, and in the shop tank it did. but i brought it anyway, and for a few weeks he ate some leaves, but now doesnt touch them.

What do you feed your pleco and how often? Are you completely sure that the pleco is the problem, and not something else?

Rusty plecos are one of the true wood eating plecos, it is very unlikely that the damage in the LFS was done by it.

I have 3 plecos in my planted tank and they don't seem to be eating any of my plants ..as i have about 5 to 7 different various types of plants. I think as long as they have lots of hiding spaces and give them algae pellets, then i think it will be okay..and my amazon swords seems to be doing by far the best

Java fern is pretty much indestructable; it tastes quite bitter, apparently. Don't forget it needs to be attached to rock or wood, and not planted in the substrate.

Thanks for your advice peeps. I know its my plec as i see him eating the plants. He gets an algae wafer every two days plus any bits of flake or frozen food i may feed my other fish plus what i mentioned in my original post about the small tank plants being ok !!

Courgettes and peas are best, in my experience.

What about a half wafer every day?
