Hi TFF im new to the site but im hoping for some valuable advice. I have what i think is an albino (orange) female pleco, who has mated with my bristlenose tiger tale, they have had about 20-30 babies of some interesting colours, is this rare or am i just very lucky???

ive never had any luck with breeding in my main tank but congratulations

WELCOME TO TFF :)

Hi Bob,

That sounds amazeballs! Please get some pics up and show them off.

Congrats and welcome!

BNs do come in a lot of colour morphs, including various albinos/leucistic/xanthic forms, so you probably just have two different forms of the same species.

BNs do breed quite readily, so you probably haven't got anything very rare, or unusual, but breeding anything is nice

The common tank variety bn has been line bred to produce long fins, albino and then all the other coolr variations. They are essentially the same fish. the can all breed with each other.

Depending on the genetic history of the two you have which spawned, the types of offspring you get will vary. There is no reason to expect anything until you get what you get without some genetic history.

I have had long fin albino bn throw 100% brown short and long fins and then those throw a mix of albino and brown, but only reg fins.
