Pleco Tank?

In the 6ft tank I have a King Tiger Plec - L066, A Blue Phantom Plec - L128, a Large Male Bristlenose and 2 small Albino Bristlenose.

And in my 4ft I have a Big Whitespot Plec - LDA033, A Green Phantom Plec - L200, and a Flash Plec - L204.

I also have a 15G tank with 6 queen arabesque plecs (L260). Too small for them really but once i finally move house they are either going into a 30" tank for breeding, or they will be paired up and put in my breeding rack when i finally get round to building it!

So yes, you can mix plecs, you just have to choose carefully, buy similar sizes, and have LOTS of rocks/bogwood (I have loads of it!).

Oh I can't imagine what a vacum cleaning would be like its enough for me with just 1 pleco but with 6 of them :S I'd go crazy you'd have to do like every 3 day vacum cleanings to keep up with them

Pleco tanks are what all of our tanks are :)

Firstly though i have got to say something about the 'golden nuggets' size... 10G is not big enough by a long shot... they are not a small plec - the smallest will get to about 8" - then there are the other than can easily get to 14"

L081 Gold Nugget - Planet Catfish
L018 Gold Nugget - Planet Catfish

They are also a 'soft skinned' plec that are injured easily in disagreaments with 'armoured' plecs (eg the common) so make sure that there is no aggresion in the tank if possible

Anyway.. back to the plec tank thing...

we have the following tanks and plec combinations...

350l corner (100Gal us)
1 common plec - 10"
1 Large white spot 3" - LDA33
1 Sunshine plec 4" - L014
2 white seam bristlenoses - 5" (L183)
6 common bristlenoses (Juviniles about 1.5")

The bristle noses are all due to move to the shed tanks when its done.

135l - (40Gal us)
5 Chocolate Zebra Plecs - 2"

120l - (35Gal us)
2 Leopard Frog Plecs 3" - L134
1 Para Plec 5" - L075
1 common bristlenose 1.5"

50l - (15 Gal us)
5 False Zebra Plecs - Juviniles 1" - L236

There are no problems in any of the tanks. They key is to give them lots and lots of cover and lots of hiding places. Another useful tip is to feed in multiple areas so there is no aggession to get to the food. If we're feeding veg - we put a peice in per plec ;)

Hope this post helps.

I never knew you could put other plecos with a common pleco once it started getting bigger  I learned something new today :teacher: :hooray:
