I'm planning to get a small pleco for my 55G tank - it will be the last fish I add...
At the moment it contains 9 Black Widow tetras and 5 young Keyhole Cichlids
Tank dimensions are 1m x 0.5m x 0.5m, I have a Fluval U4.
It is moderately planted and has a good ammount of floating plants aswell.
The tank is almost 4 weeks mature and the nitrite/nitrate levels are down to 0.
Oh - and there is plenty of algae for him to munch on when he arrives.
What kind of pleco can I get away with / would be suitable for my tank?
Thanks in advance!

see if any of these plecs under 8 inchs will be of any use....

i would recomend a bristlenose plec, they are awesome :)

I would also advise BNpleco, they are really lovely plecos they dont tend to get much bigger than 5 inch, they do need some bog wood to munch on, and are normally pretty easy to come by.
Hope you find the right one for your tank!

Hi Scrotius :)

IMHO, you won't go wrong with a bristlenose. Or, since your tank is planted, you might want to consider a school of otos. They are small but interesting little fish. :D

Otos need soft green algae so if you do go for them you need to check you have some of this algae present as a lot of people struggle to keep them alive thinking the algae levels are right. And fish shops tend not to have any in there tanks and therefore the ottos start to starve at most shops then go home and overeat, so then they run out of algae. they are really pretty little fish
