Just thought I'd add some information as my cae is about 9-10cm, aggressive sized... Since I added a wreck as a cave for him, and algae flakes (he'd not been fed these before) he has seems really quite chilled. He just hangs around the plants, or inside the wreck, lately he lies on top of it too, while the goldfish swims by... He has bothered the gold fish a little bit, but he's not makng much of an effort - it's half hearted. His breathing has slowed right down and he's not suckering over the glass anymore, just seems to chill. And gorge himself on algae flakes!
He's a nice fish now that he's calmed down! Like Lisa says, I guess it depends on the fish! Will see how it goes - one day he may have to be re-homed if he gets too big or feisty, but all is harmonious now, and I should know, because I (obessively!) watch my tank for hours!
