I have heard from a lot of people that their ghost shrimp immediately eat their plecos poop but mine don’t go anywhere near it. I have heard from multiple friends and lots of different forums and nothing seems to do it and I’m left with long strands of poop

Long strands suggest an incorrect diet. What kind of plec is it, and what are you feeding?

Common pleco and I just got it yesterday, I used to have one a while ago and ended up giving it to my stepdad for his pond when it got big enough but never really saw the poop in the tank. I haven’t fed it anything yet but I plan to give it algae wafers once or maybe twice a week because I have other a couple other algae wafers

Common Pleco? I hope you have a very large tank!
I have it in a 40 gallon right now but when It gets bigger I am moving him to my pond, last time I got a small plec and put it in the pond he got picked on by the other fish.

I did have some pretty thick build up of brown algae on the glass that he cleaned up immediately, guess that could have been why he pooped so much and I never really had a problem with other plecs. Every time I looked in yesterday there was poop coming out of him. He was an algae to poop converter lol

Most of them do long poop because they eat lots and poop lots. Completely normal. Make sure you do lots of big water changes and gravel clean the substrate any time you do a water change. Clean the filter regularly too.
