I have had a common pleco for about 6 months, when I first got it I had a 10 gallon tank not knowing how big they get, then got a 40 and it was in there for maybe 2 months, but decided to give it to my stepdad with a 200 gallon tank. Whenever I see it I have not noticed it getting bigger. It is about 4 inches and has been in the 200 gal for around 3 months. Could it have stopped growing from being in a small tank for that time or could it just be growing slower. He looks healthy and acts fine, but I am worried he will not grow any more. I give him an algae wafer every other day, and have tried giving him small pieces of cucumber and zucchini but he was not interested. My stepdad said he has not had any luck giving him any vegetables either.

With three tank changes in three months I would think that the pleco has gone through a lot of stress which may be slowing its growth. I figure the three tank changes in three months as follows. Initially going in the 10G then the 40G then going into the 200G three months ago with a total time of six months.

Pictures of the fish so we can confirm the species?
It might be a small species that only grows to 4 inches.

There are photos of the plec in this thread

I know it is a common pleco, got it confirmed on here a little after I got him, the only picture I have is an old-ish picture but I will post it.

I'm so jealous, wish my plecos would pose better for pics like that! They seem to taunt me by only suckering to the glass when the lights are out. I'm really happy just when I spot a tail!
