i have a 5 inch pleco in my community tank would it be ok to go in my fry tank for a couple of hours just to clean the algea out my fry are 1cm long

I'd say no. Plecs are messy poo machines and you'd want the fry to be in pristine water ideally.

i would agree with this, unless you plan on cleaning the tank a lot (which would defeat the purpose of having a pleco in the tank) then i would say no.

you could use a single cory to collect excess food off the bottom if that too is a concern. a chinese algae eater would annoy the crap out of the fry and stress them, so don't think of that as an option either.

basically the only thing you can do is just kepp cleaning the tank and when you do, wipe the algae off of the sides of the tank.

the guy said "for a couple of hours"

It'll be fine - there may be some poo to net / vacum but it'll be fine...

A plec wont settle down and start to clean within a couple of hours.

Don't be a lazy git and clean the algae yourself......

Ben

lol

We used to use our bristle noses on clean up... they were settled with the lights out in about 30 mins and off they went :)
