Yeah thats a common pleco.

Unfortunately they need a massive tank when they grow and produce a lot of waste. Looking at over 200 gallons or 757 litres.

Best bet is to source a rescue or perhaps look to rehome him to a local.

And avoid that shop, sounds sleazy

Yeah I’m not going to that shop again and I’ll try and see what I can do to rehome him

Hard to tell because body markings not visible. I actually thought this might be juvenile Bristlenose. Any other pics?

I called City Aquariums to ask about donations. I found one to take the fish for me. Worth calling to ask. I would also expect a clown pleco to cost more than a common Pleco. Sorry they shafted you.

The petshop doesn’t take animals back, what can I do? I can’t get a bigger tank because I don’t have a place for a bigger tank

If you bought it as a particular fish (clown pleco), they have no choice but to exchange it or refund your money because they gave you something you did not ask for.

We did they just said we have no proof because on the slip it only says fish so we can’t do anything or take him back

Tell them to refund or exchange the fish otherwise you will contact consumer protection.

Tell them straight out, refund or exchange it for a clown pleco and if they say no, contact consumer protection.

They ripped you off and gave you a fish that should not be kept in captivity because it grows too big. You have every right to a refund or a fish that matches what you paid for.

hard to get a photo as he/she is normal hiding during the day.
