Pleco Help

as above anti internal bacteria meds - do water change 1st, then treat.

Just got home, hes on his side and there is a long string of like dark green "poo" i guess thats strung out :( hes barely breathing anything real quick?

:( doesn't sound good, water change, lights out and get the meds asap.

All I have is basic ich medication should i stop treatment of that? Is internal parasite differnt then this? He was looking alot better for a day or so when i moved him and now again back on his side, barely breathing.

Since your in the UK they may not have myaxzin is there anything else/

ya just called they dont have anything for internal parasites just external he said

ugh the ich medicine will not be helping - are you using it at full strength? Plecs can be very sensitive to meds.

If you can't get internal bacteria meds (where are you based?) then get pimafix. Otherwise just daily 10% water changes.

I'd run some carbon in your filter to remove the ich meds first (after a decent water change).

Im in florida, we called the local shops and no one has anything for internal parasites, again are we sure thats what this is?

I have been using full strength as i didnt know they were sensitive, I will perform water change and put carbon filter back in tank. So since I cant treat him i guess ill just do daily water changes.

In the US you can get antibiotics but use in an isolation tank as they would kill off any filter bacteria too.

Ok well i did water changes everyday for a few days now about every other day, he is looking alot better and i dont see a bunch of poo or mucas coming out. is it safe to throw him back in the main tank? if he has internal parasite can it spread to other fish?

I'd wait and carry on as you are for another week to be on the safe side. Glad he's doing better though - well done!
