Pleco For A 14 Gallon

Cheers for the link mate, already saw that one and im still skeptical that they are 250's, price does sound about right though at around £4000 but the fish in question isn't actually confirmed to be an actual species as far as i know and speculation to weather it is just a off marked zebra type species. No doubt the fish in question is stunning but there isn't enough info about to confirm one way or another.

trying to grow on some L333 there going to take me a good couple of years to get them to a decent size

Yep been there done that lol, hypans in general just take so long to mature, 333's are quite easy to obtain as adults now so if i was to ever get them again i would try and get hold of adults groups or adults in general. Good luck with them though, hypans are by far my fav species :good:
im torn between hypans and peckolitia both stunning genus and you dont need a huge house to keep them

Yep that's the appealing part to either, nice group in a normal size tank lol,do like peckoltia species especially 134 but i love black and white hypans (who doesn't lol).

I'm looking into what species to get next, torn actually between 134 or 260's or possible go the hole hog on a group of 173 but there gonna cost me a fortune lol and im not sure weather i can justify that sort of money to wait 3-4 years for them to mature. Choices, choices eh? lol.

It's quite sad how excited i get over choosing plecs.. most of the time im like a kid in a candy shop lol. You have good taste mate, 134's and 260's would be a couple of my choices aswell :good:.

Just realised this ain't my thread lol, so apologies to the OP but at least it was still on topic lol :p

No worries about getting carried away lol.

Haven't read all of your responses yet (going to a meeting at work in a minute).

Tank is 14 gallons, it's approx 20 inches long, 14 inches deep and 12 inches tall.

I'll copy everything you have said and read it when I get a minute :)

EDIT:
Current tank mates, betta sorority.

Temperature is around 26 degrees.

If I can't get one in there I can't get one; I just thought I'd ask first :)

I tell you what would work in there, but is not a plec...

A single Panda Garra, Garra flavatra ! These guys are omnivores, happily eating things like Prima Discus; algae tablets and they will keep the tank glass free of algae too. Quite inquisitive fish, they do get a little territorial with each other at times abut their mouth shape prevents any serious damage. Provide a cave (or small plant pot) for each one plus a spare, they like to settle out of sight occaisonally during the day but especially at night.

My three are great fun to watch in the tank, really pleased I got them.

I don't really agree with keeping a Panda Garra with Bettas because Panda Garras need strong currents where Bettas need still water.

That's a fair point (although Panda Garras are not always found in flowing water), however I had no idea this Plec or alternative was going to share with a Betta

Edit: Just seen Dipsy edited the last post on page 1, at a time a was replying on page 2, to reveal the Betta inhabitant!

TBH then no plec is going to be suitable, the filtration been so low for a betta isn't going to suffice a plec tbh and nor will the flow to keep it fully happy. Tank at only 20 inches aswell would be under my recommended limit. Some will say it's fine but for me i wouldn't want to keep a messy fish in either such a small body of water or a tank that small tbh.

Pygmy cory's would work well though if that's a consideration?

For this tank, I would (were it me) choose the Pitbull Pleco LDA025. Perhaps two or three.
I mistakenly referred to it as bull dog pleco.
Have kept as many as six in ten gallon tank with nothing but sponge filter, driftwood, and some java fern, anubia.
They seldom reach two and a half inches, don't require much exept alage and vegetable supplements.

That is fine; I was just asking to see if there was any kind of pleco or not to go in with my girls :)

I don't like to hijack, but...

I've got a 24"x14"x12" tank, well planted, with mature bogwood. I'm aiming to breed Nannacara anomala in it (I've managed to get a pair, but need the female to grow a bit first as she's much younger than the male) - would I be able to keep an interesting small plec in there without it interfering with the cichlids?

I really like the look of some of the smaller L numbers.

yes but you would need a reasonable amount of water flow have a look at peckolitia genus they stay small my personal favourite is the L134 which would be fine in a tank that size

Cool, I currently run one ok internal canister (its been a fairly low load tank to this point) - the fluval 2plus, would this create sufficient current? I'm considering upgrading anyway now I've got a bit more serious...

Oh, the L134s look gorgeous, but the cheapest I can find are about £50 each, which is probably a bit rich for my blood!

you should be able to pick 1 up for £25 or have a look at L015 peckolitia vittata have a look on aquarists classifieds
the fluval 2+ should make enough flow in that small tank if not you can add a small power head
