I thought my pleco might be getting sick because its color got lighter yesterday. My husband commented on it, so I wasn't imagining it. Then when I turned the light out last night and it swam into the darker brown log, it was a dark brown again. Can they change colors? :dunno: I swear this one was lighter brown when it was lying on the lighter brown gravel. Weird. It seems fine, eating and swimming, not sickly.

Yes they can..they turn very light colored when i change my tank water..and when it's on the gravel like you said, normal :D

Hey Pam, are those new puppies I see in your avatar? :)

The plecs with spots can camouflage themselves just like big cats can in the wild. The main time I noticed it was when the lighting levels in the tank changed because he took a wee while to catch up!

Ahhhh! That would explain the P. I always sign with a P. too and we both share the same name. :D Except if anyone calls me Pam they will be tortured horribly and painfully. :p
The more I learn about catfish, the more they amaze me and the more I love them.
Hugs,
P.
