HEllo all,

I have just come in to my 13 month old plec and found him/her lieing very very still.

I watched it for a while and it still never moved, so "nudged" it with a soft plat stem, just to make sure.

It never moved at first and i really feared the worst, but, suddenly it jumped to life and moved, but now its really still again.

is this normal? i have never seen this behavior before?

thanks

Mike

Is she bloated/swollen at all? Is it returning to the same area over and over? Pleco's pass a lot of waste as im sure you know. Is she passing any waste at all? I must say MY plecos tend to hide in their caves whenever I venture into the tank. They do however have somewhat poorer eye sight that other fish. Maybe she didn't see it coming?

If there's nothing noticeably different apart from this behaviour I don't think I'd be inclinded to worry too much. My Plec's sometimes sit around doing nothing much.

I have a plec that hides under a piece of slate all the time, I've only seen him out a few times during the day, and I've had him for a couple of years. Some of my plecs seem more active than others, this is the laziest one.

thanks for the replies both of you,

I was really worried - She(?) seems to be swimming around, but her behaviour is noticably different.

I will keep an eye open and make sure all is well!

thanks again

Sorry, I said 'She' as calling your plec 'it' didn't seem right. :)

Fingers crossed she'll be ok.
