Hi,

I am having trouble narrowing down this species.

He looks like this guy but doesn't have such a long tail

The person who sold it to me said it was some sort of bushy but he shows no signs of bushy-ness.

(I would love to make this easier via pictures but I don't have a camera)

There SO MANY types of plecos in the world. It is hard to narrow it down because some can look very similar. With out a photo it will be be very hard for us to Identify.

bushy ??? Like a Bristle nose. The females don't get the whiskers the males get if they do get them they only grow short and around the mouth thats it. The young Bristle nose females don't have any whiskers.

So if it was sold as a bush mouth??? It could be a BN or some other type of Ancistrus. Do a search for Ancistrus and see if any of them look like yours. Here is another good site for catfish.

It is most likely a male bristlenose, however a piccy would be most helpful.
