Plec Id Plz

Alrite guys, i got these 2 little plecs from a friend yesterday.


he had them in a 2ft, 14 gallon tank and in the 5 months they have been in there they have only grown about 0.5"


they have quite big heads in comparison to say a common and they have spots for orangey/gold markings.


they look kinda like my orange spot plec did but hes more than doubled in size in that time so im guessing there not the same.

if you need a pic ill try get one but i thought all plecs grew fast and got big so im hoping these are easy to ID?

With so many species they could be, it would be a lot easier with a pic They sound lovely!

really? i thought there was only one or two that stayed small.


i was thinkin they were maybe bulldog/rubbernose plecs but i havent found a good pic to confirm it.

There are lots of plecs that stay small, so without a pic it's impossible to make a clear ID. I would try Pleco Fanatics as there are a few ID experts on there

It's most certainly not against the rules (it's neither a commercial site nor a competitor), and the link has been posted many times before in many other threads. The fact remains there are people there that could ID this plec. I don't see you IDing it here? If it's against the rules to try and help someone, then that's a bit cack.

Didnt mean to offend you but as it is another fishforum then it is a competitor.

I don't want to argue with you, I was only trying to help by passing Sam a link to a site where I've had a lot of help with IDing my bristlenose (which didn't get IDed on here). I don't see the crime in that, so fingers crossed Sam will get some help now

Pics would be great Sam, I'm no expert though - but it might help others reading in.

And I've never heard 'owt as daft as a pleco specific site who could help out being competitors. This isn't a pleco specific site, and no experts have jumped in to help here, so why not pass them on to someone who can?

in ginge's defence i think it is actually against the rules to post links to another fish forum. dont think the mods are too strict on it tho because the cichlid forum is always linked to aswell.



moderators have that written below there name. fish addict is jus another rating and they change when you reach a certain milestone in your post count.

dont kno if theres anything after leader of the fishies or even when i changed to that.
