Yes, they are the same species just a colour morpth with man made fins. I couldnt tell you what the fry would be but there likely to be a mix of all sorts lol.

Thanx for that - it could be interesting

If the male is a pure brown ( you cant tell from looking at the fish)and the female is pure longfin (again cant tell from looking at the fish its to do with there parents) then all the fry should be brown longfin and brown and longfin are more dominant genes than albino and short fin. But if the parents arnt pure genes then you could get a mix.

Again thanx
Both have pure parents so I guess you are saying that offspring will be brown longfin

They should all be brown longfins then
Because if AA stands for brown and capital shows dominant and albino is aa (repressive) then all the fry will be Aa so they will be brown but will also have the albino gene. The same works with longfin and shortfin. longfin would be AA and shortfin aa. Does that make any scence? its hard to explain.

lol mini genetics lesson, cool beans! :hyper: are pleco genes mostly dominant-recessive when it comes to physical appearance?

Sorry - i dont have an answer. im just enjoying the trip back to A-Level Biology... good work!
