Hi all,

We have found a sac of gel with little specs in it tonight stuck to the front of the tank, unsure what to do i put it in a breeding box (after much fun chasing it) and it is now stuck to a heater clip inside the breeding box, please could you help me identify what it is i have found?

I have a 48litre tank with a plec, 3 mollies and 5 neons

my worry is that i am going to end up with too many "free" snails, i have fished about 20 out this week, the little "hitchhikers" came in on some live plants i got, which are now dead? i never have had a green finger and this just proves it haha

Well, the snails dont eat the healthy plants, they only eat decaying plants, leftover food and algae.

So if you have a phobia of snails, and cant get rid of their food source, then remove the eggs. Otherwise, keep them at let them replace the eggs you removed, they will benefit the tank as a whole ecosystem.

Better yet, post in the planted section for advice on how to get your plants growing best :good:.

i arent snail phobic :) just dont want a tank full, i am struggling to find a larger tank in my budget and i believe one of my mollies is pregnant, just didnt want my tank getting full of em hehe

p.s the plants decayed very quickly, i dont know enough about plants to try keeping them yet so have give up xx

Plants can be incredibly easy to grow, and incredibly beneficial to aquariums.

It's all about just choosing the right ones (a lot of the ones sld in shops arent at all suitable for most aquariums) and planting them right (you need to take off the lead weights/pot).

If you give tank details at the planted section (lighitng type/wattage, size of tank and filter), we can help you there.
