Hello all! Hope you all are doing well.
As some of you know this is my first Betta and he was a rescue and I have had nothing but problems for awhile with Ramses health. Finally things are starting to get under control. He is still in a hospital tank, getting better each day. Blowing bubble nest and flaring more than ever. But I have a question. Ramses looks like a tye dye t-shirt. Totally beautiful. His whole body is that way except for his head. When I bought him home, his head was totally like a rust colred brown. Now it looks like it is going away and is slowly turning a sky blue. Is that possible or am I just seeing things. Everyday it looks like the brown color is draining and more blue is coming through. Its starting from his neck going foreward to the tip of his nose.
Please tell me if I am going nuts or not!
Love to you all,
Theresa

It's possible. When fish grow and age or get healthier their color will sometimes change some.

Brown patches can be a parasite add abit of salt to his tank.

I did add salt to the hospital tank. I am also treating him with maracyn plus and maracyn 2. Like I said its slowly going away and a gorgeous blue color is coming through. What parasites cause the whole head to turn brown? just curious. I am obviously doing something right for him. At least I hope I am.

Nothing to worry if it's going away probably the water changes and salt have killed off the parasite, good luck.

Wilder ,
it kinda sounds like it. But would it just develop on his head and no where else on his body?

Never had velvet so not sure, my husband bought me a fancy goldfish and that had brown patches only on the belly and i was treating like you and they disappeared to.

It could be just color change.
This was Mr. Bob when I bought him~
