Besides my cell phone, I bought my first camera on June 16. Took me 2 days to learn how to use it, a Nikon CoolPix P1000. I want to take macro photography but have found I’m mostly taking wildlife and sunset pics so far. Here are a few that I’ve taken over the past week.

I’ve got a tripod but my very first moon shot shown below just happened to be hand held.

Also, the hummingbird hawk moth was taken with my iPhone and is about 10 yrs old, but still one of my favorite nature pics. The sunset pic also was taken with my iPhone.

I just joined a photography club which happens to meet 4 min. from my house so I hope that helps me grow and learn.

A few weeks back we had these crazy nacreous clouds appear around the UK and we managed to grab some photos. They're extremely rare here apparently, certainly was the first time I've ever seen anything like them...

Praying mantis are my insect muses every year, and though I haven't spotted any yet, here's a pic from last year that I had kind of forgotten about! View attachment 320367

A random frog who decided to chill on the outside stairs:

Seeing your picture reminded me of this picture that I took last summer of a hungry mosquito enjoying some amphibian blood.

Badbea, one of places we visited a year or so ago. Stunning location on a lovely day like that but terribly exposed. It was a piece of land used to rehome villagers to during the highland clearances, when sheep were valued more than people.
This particular piece of land has steep cliffs at the edge down into the Moray Firth. Local legend says that it was usual for people to tie not just their livestock, but also their children, down to stop them being blown off the cliff edge.
The last person left the village in 1911 and only ruined houses and a monument are visible there now.
It’s one of the few places that left a lingering emotional response after visiting it. Strange how some places connect to you in that way.
