Please say i can add some tetras

well if you do get anything, make sure its not a livebearer. Soon your going to have LOADS of little LB's ll over your tank.

Hmmmm with the livebearer situation, something you have to be careful of is cross breeding. Your sword male would quite happily mate with the female mollies I think, with the numbe of females you have you could (in the worst/best senario) be looking at 40 fry each female monthly. I do not think you should add any fish until you know that the others are ok (with your male molly being sick, hope he's doing better btw). Also, how long as your tank been set up and what are you levels like? Just because many say that neons as well as other tetra like cardinal need mature tanks.

My poor molly does look better but isnt eating much, he isnt spending so much time at the top now (which is good), i really hope he pulls through (how long can it take to heal)

Bought the tank beginning may, and i wasnt planning to buy any just yet until everything got better.

Water levels are ammonia 0.1, nitrite 0, nitrate 10

as of this morning, but i did a water change before adding the velvet meds.

I dont want to upset the tank further.

When i first bought the fish i was sold 2 mollies (dalmation female, black male), and 2 platys, the dalmation female was bullying the male, so i had to get another female, but i think the stress made him ill, as i had to wait all over sunday til i could get the additional female, and he was really hiding all the time.

Poor thing (i hate the lfs, i told her i didnt know much about fish keeping and wanted to avoid breeding til i knew a little more)

isnt it swords w/platties?
Any of them, with the possible exception of the guppies.

If you're tank isn't cycled you should not really have that number of fish yet to be honest. I'd leave it until your levels are right, then get cories. I'd maybe (if you are not looking to breed) take back either male or female livebearers because you will get fry.

Your mollie might not make it because of the amonia. Black mollies are also more sinsitive (he is black, right?) In fact, as you have nitrAte (unless it's the same as your tapwater) you should be cycled and not have amonia at all. If your tap water is lower than 10, it is builing from the bacteria colony and you have an overstocked tank/not enough filtration/not enogh water changes.

Hope your mollie is better soon.

my tank was cycled or so i thought, i waited seven days after fishless cycling which spiked, and everyday the results were 0, so after those seven days i bought 4 fish, then a further 3 five days later etc etc

my levels have stayed at 0 except they do rise after adding more fish, but then drop back down after water changes, i thought this was

a - extra feaces from the extra fish in the tank
b - because i couldnt undo the knot on the bag i had to split them in the tank,
(unfortunately using some of the tank water from the lfs's tank)

So i assumed this was normal, do you think i did it all wrong? perhaps its my fault my black molly is ill,

Also i havent got a gravel cleaner yet, its on the way, and when i added 2 live plants day before yesterday, in disturbing the gravel made the tank misty and messy. do you think this could also be a factor??
