I have a 10g planted tank. Planted with java moss, java fern, moneywort.

I have gravel substrate and I add "Leaf Zone" (iron and potassium).

I just bought a spectra max 15w bulb $19.99. (18 inch)

Will this be any better that the standard eclipse bulb that I had?

If not, could you recommend a good one for plant growth?

Also, it has 180 degree external reflector and says "super daylight lamp with rare earth trichromatic phosphors" :dunno:

It seems to make things look blueish/purpleish. Fish look beautiful, but it doesn't seem that bright. :dunno:

ANY input would be appreciated. Thank you.

18 watts with a good reflector over a 10 gallon aquarium should do just fine for your low light plants. I wouldnt go over about a 20-25 watt bulb in your situation though.

If you want nice bright light go with a Life-glo, it makes both plants and fish look really nice.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I returned the "spectra-max" and bought a "power-glo" bulb. It was recomended by a LFS that I trust. It's the same bulbs thay use. It was still $19.99.

Hopefully this will help my plants. :dunno:
