Hi I bought a female betta from my local lfs and wondered if anyone could identify her as I've never seen one with this sort of marking, I haven't taken any pics yet but came across a link in one of the current topics and she is the dead spit of the fish on the webpage -

Really, I saw a few females in the lfs that were the same colour and marking. And even today she still has the same markings. I'll wait till the weekend when they all settle down in the girls dorm and see if her markings have changed.

I know some of the wild form have horizontal markings and wondered if that was where it was coming from ?

:/

No, most girls (and some boys) at shops are stressed striped, mainly due to the cramped conditions and bullying. Some don't loose the stripes, but the vast majority will settle dwon eventually.

OohFeeshy is correct, these are stress stripes and should go away once she settles in. I did however have a female that never lost her stripes no matter what :/

Her colour is really nice and she's got signs of CT trait in her with the spikey appearance in her tail.

Just been feeding the girls and you're right, her stripes have all gone and she is a great electric blue now.

Oh well I thought I had an unusual betta, but never mind she if still a great colour.

I'll take piccys of the all the fish this weekend, I've been working the last two weekends and haven't had to time, plus I've only just sorted all the tanks out now.
