I just got a new plec. The shop wasn't sure which L number he is.

Any ideas?

His colouring is white and black.

looks like an arabesque.other plec goers will have more knowledge than i do on plecs.ima catfish pro.

Its not an L260 (qa), L400 is a possibility, there is so much variation in their patterns.

Hypan id is a nightmare at the best of times, lol

just for good measure - it could be a nicely coloured 333...

L400's dont 'tend' to be as joined up as that... but there is Sssoooooo much variation and speculation about all these "new" black and white plecs its hard to say...


Its a beaut, whatever it is - Did they have any more? - I would have had to have 4 or 5 for a breeding project (yep - that would be another one!)
(Not sure what I'm going to do when I finally shut the shed down.... I'm down to 3 tanks out there as of tonight )

Thanks for your opinions - I know it's a nightmare trying to get an accurate ID. Even when they are labelled it is often not right.

Smithrc. He was the only one they had. They had some 333's but this one was in a different tank and was the only one they had so I snapped him up.
