not the best pic i know, i asked Dr Monks for help and he suggested a name but i couldnt id him from the pics i found on the net :)

thankyou shelagh xxxx

ps, im posting in here as im not sure if hes a catfish or a shark

It def looks like a shark, giant red tailed shark it looks like. not sure what it is but it is a beautiful looking fish.

I assume you mean the catfish as its in this section?

If so looks like S. eupterus

weird he looks like the redtail shark but without the umm red tail lol, I was gonna say black shark but I think they look different from that

edit: just looked at the link and yeah he is a black shark.

Its a Black Shark, and they Get Absolutely Huge, Have seen some specimens reaching well over a foot in length.
Very Big, but can;t remember what there temperament is like when the get that big.

They are very nice fish at that size.

Stang1 and Strippy have a Purple Cheeked Albino Morph of this fish in one of the Sump tanks and its absolutley Mahhhhhooooooooooooooooooooosive well over 14 inches.

Phew, Labeo chrysophekadion, up to 24 inches, often aggressive, though not always, very territorial. the need 100g tank. given the space they would make a fantastic fish to keep!

At 24 inches they need a bit more than a 100g tank, try in the regions of 400g for a full grown adult and your nearer the mark.

he is lovely hes also very very shy, yes jenicilbee thats him OMG i think he need s anew home like yesterday bless him

Morulius chrysophekadion, thats a mouthful,he always hides behind the plants and i have come down in the night to see him happily swimming about, i have never seen him eat anything, but i always put cichlid sticks, algae wafers in the tank and peas so i assume he eats when the lights are down and the house is quiet, but hes very healthy..

i wondered about him being a catfish as he has "whiskers" and swims lower rather than higher like the balas do ( they are quite middle to high level)
anyway thanks for all your help at least i know wht i am trying to rehome now, tho i may be hard pushed to find anyone with a tank that size :(

any ideas on rehoming would be nice, i have cut mt ties with my lfs as i dont approve of his money making methods
