Hi to al! :)
I have a 30g tank – 10 month old.
Am=0; Ni=0; Na=10; Ph =7; Temp=79.
• 2 Swordtails (and 5 swordtail fry).
• 5 Black molly (and 5 fry)
• 7 read tetra
• 2 Yellow Tetra (do not remember the correct name :dunno: )
• 6 Otto
• 1 Adult Corridors Cory (and 3 fry)
• Same Plants
All happy family! :kana:

My problem is snails….
So… I got 3 Kuhlii loaches to dill with it!
Went to regular adaptation rutting (flat bag for 40min, add same water from the main tank and wait 15 min repeat last step – 3 times) every sing was ok, but on the next morning all 3 was dad!!! :rip: What is wrong? ????
Do Kuhlii loaches need something different? ????
What is a Kuhlii loaches requirement? ????

Oh dear, sorry to hear that....

Did you do the regular water checks for PH, Nitrite and Nitrate. I don't think they have any special requirements other than really needing to be kept in groups:

Origin: India and Bangladesh
Maximum Size: Usually around 3".
Care: They are gregarious and feel much more comfortable in the company of their own kind. Generally more than 6 in a group. A relatively shy and calm fish, it will quite happily lounge along the bottom of the tank resting, and so it needs hiding places, flowerpots or underneath driftwood where it can hide away are ideal. Over all its a very easy fish to keep.
Feeding: Scavengers, will take most aquarium foods and any other scraps they find in a tank.
Breeding: They have green eggs and kuhlis have been bred in captivity, they will lay their eggs on floating water plants, water sprite is a good breeding plant for them. The true khulis have around 14-20 bands along their body and the real kuhli loach, Acanthophthalmus kuhlii , is a 3.5 inch fish from Indonesia, Sumatra, Java, Malaya and Thailand.
Sexing: Hard to tell. Males have a more muscular upper body appearance, and usually have larger pectoral fins with more black markings on them. Females are wider bodied in the belly

everything sounds fine in there - how long had the shop had them?

one other thing - sorry to tell you, but khuli's wont eat snails.

"everything sounds fine in there - how long had the shop had them?"

Shop just got them like 5 houars befor ...

"one other thing - sorry to tell you, but khuli's wont eat snails. "

???? But every body tell me they (Kuhlii) will eat and they love snails!!!! :dunno:

Hi Genry :)

I just now noticed that you made your post in the Catfish forum. I'll move it to the
Cyprinids, Characins and Atherinids forum where loach questions are usually asked, and my posting this note will cause your thread to go to the top of the list.

Perhaps you will get more responses there. :D

the only problem i see with what you did was floating them for 40 minutes, that's an extremely long time, try cutting down to 15 minutes floating then go from there

No, khuli loaches wont eat snails at all(i own 7 khulis and snails still exist), you're thinking of CLOWN loaches. Khulis are just scavengers, will eat practically any leftover food that hits the bottom.
Sorry to hear your bad luck with them, I've never had any problems with mine. Your paremetres seem fine for a khuli to live in, maybe a little bit warmer than they need but it's nothing that would kill them. Maybe the ph from the store is much different than yours and it put them into shock. -_-

Shop just got them like 5 houars befor ...

That'll be the problem - if they hadn't had chance to settlt back down after shipping the extra stress from moving themn again could well be the problem.
either that of they were ill before you even got them.

Try to get fish that you know have been healthy for a while in the store.

here is a piccy to show my point about khuli's not eating snails...

here is our applesnail breeding tank (not intentional) and a couple of the khuli's we have in there.
