Hi I really need some help here as I've never had a diseased fish before ....

I have a community tank with 2 Platties, 1 clown loach, 4 nean tetra and 1 Betta. Today I've noticed that my Clown loaches has all the signs is White spot and is rubbing himself on anything that stands still. I want to get him treated now ... this is where I need your help ... what do I do ?

Can I give a clown loach a salt bath ?
Once I've got him into a hospital tank what do I treat him with?
What temperature does the hospital tank need to be ?
How long will he need to be in there ?
Do I treat the others just in case ?
What are his chances of survival ?

ahhhhh help !

thank you

Ich is waterborn, you'll need to treat the whole tank. A hospital tank is useless for treating ich.

I would raise the temp to 85.

hth :)

This article will give you loads on info on ICH.

To treat the ICH with Heat you will need to raise the temps to at least 86 degrees. Anything below this and the ICH parasite will survive. This temperature will be fine with the loach and the platty but not sure how high the temp range is for the tetra and betta .. maybe someone on here can tell you.

I personally would not go for the salt with the loach unless it is as a last resort.

Provide plenty of oxigen for the fish while you have the temps high...maybe an additional airline or increased flow?
