Hey, I've recently purchased some firebelly toads. Having kept albino frogs for years I know they are grubbers. My question - do they only eat live food? Can I feed them on frozen bloodworm? My newts thrive on it as did the alibno frogs. My girlfriend is not comfortable with housing live bugs. Many thanks

Lol - she already knows, that's the problem. Thanks anyway

Yeah frozen bloodworm is fine for Bombina froggies. It keeps the lovely orange colour on their underside nice and bright. They also like to eat earthworms, but be a bit careful where you get them from. Ones from the garden might have been in contact with chemicals.

Thank you so much Rach. Onward and ypward. And just remember - "It's better to have been drunk and sick than never to have been drunk at all!" Stevie Burns 2006

Hey Guppyman, that was a big help indeed. Reckon I'll try both of those suggestions at next feeding time. Thanks again

I've never heard of a firebellied toad eating vegetables? they do need a variety to eat, crickets, worms, bloodworm, small shrimp etc, these should be gut loaded before they are fed to them, they should also have been dusted with calcium and a mineral/vit supplement. (I think carrot in the insects diet helps maintain their colours well). But this doesn't overly help with you question as live food is best.
